A sleek concept app that reimagines how users configure John Deere machinery, blending brand identity with intuitive interaction.
Project Type: UI UX
Role: Designer
Duration: Q3 2022
This project was a UI/UX design exercise aimed at creating a concept configuration app inspired by John Deere’s brand. The goal was to design a clean, user-friendly interface that allowed customers to explore and customize machinery effortlessly. A key challenge was translating the brand’s industrial identity into a modern, approachable digital experience. My personal goal was to sharpen my interface design skills and practice aligning visual design with brand language.
I explored John Deere’s website and product interfaces to understand its tone—professional, rugged, and trustworthy. Since this was a solo exercise, I focused on how their users typically navigate configuration tools and what visual expectations they might have.
The app needed to feel professional, reliable, and simple to use—just like the machines it represents.
The target users are professionals and hobbyists in agriculture, landscaping, and construction—people who need equipment tailored to specific tasks and terrains. A configurator helps them explore available options without navigating complex brochures or catalogs. It simplifies decision-making by allowing them to visualize and compare features directly within a clean, intuitive interface.
The project focused on making product customization approachable by streamlining navigation and minimizing visual clutter. The main goal was to keep the interface simple, clean, and brand-aligned while ensuring users feel in control of their configuration choices.
Even in this hypothetical case, users benefit most when customization tools are easy to use and visually guided. People want clarity—not overwhelming specs—so visual feedback, iconography, and simple language were emphasized to reduce friction.
I created a sitemap and simple user flows to map out a smooth step-by-step configuration experience.
Users move through the app by selecting machinery, customizing specs, and reviewing pricing—always guided by clear CTAs.
I built a clickable prototype with visual cues and transitions to simulate the flow of a real app.
Green, yellow, and clean white backgrounds mirror John Deere’s brand. Typography and spacing were optimized for clarity and precision.
The result is a crisp, industrial-modern interface where users can explore product options with ease and confidence.
Though this was a non-functional exercise, it reflects my ability to create structured, brand-consistent digital products.
